Nova looks about ready to bust!! What a cute bunch of little trouble-makers. Still have memories of visiting a friend's farm, way back, and having goat prints all over the car!!
Are goats hard to contain? My only experiences are with pigs and chickens and at least the former were always probing their containment and exploiting weaknesses to make escapes.
Ed, a lot of people say they have trouble containing goats, but we haven't had any problems. Almost all of them think they want out the gate, until they find themselves on the other side of the fence, separated from their companions. Then all they want is to get back in! We have had occasional jumpers, and then the problem is usually with the bucks trying to get in with the does.
That being said, goats are hard on fences because they like to lean into them as they walk along them, I assume to scratch their sides! We did have one buck that worked the fences loose with his horns (one of the reasons I don't like horns). He was also a jumper. Needless to say, he was quickly elected for freezer camp.
I absolutely adore the salt and Pepper girls they are extremely correct you have done a really good job on that line my dear. and yes I would take them if I were closer it’s a good thing I’m not.
And I laughed at the fencing conversation most of the people I know who have trouble with their fencing with goats don’t have fencing and then wonder why it doesn’t workπ
I think I’m getting cranky in my older age after dealing with rescue and with people who have livestock who shouldn’t for many years I’m just about done with the stupid. I think I’ll go get a piece of toast and read another blog.
Goatldi, thank you!! I am super pleased with my little girls. With Kinders, we look at meat character too, and they have the width and muscling that is desirable. The legginess is less desirable with Kinders, but it's very likely they will grow into their legs at some point!
Pretty cute about the non-fence fence people. I once had a neighbor who wanted to borrow some goats to eat the weeds they didn't want. Of course, I said no, and tried to explain that goats eat what they want, not what we want. :)
To Ed, goats are Houdinis! The grass is always greener and tastier on the other side of the fence. I solved my fence problem by setting T-posts on a five foot tall fence every 6 feet spacing and sometimes four foot spacing so to keep them from pulling up the bottom of them fence. also used a thick gauge guide wire and a strand of barbed at the bottom. Good fences make good neighbors and good goats. The few goats that escaped my goat utopia didn't stay out long, they wanted back in with their buddies. I had a La Mancha wither that was my big dog and would follow with me and go for rides and was lead trained. One goofy goat I will miss, he was a buddy!

That black kid with the 'uppy' ears is so cute!
Definitely cute.
Michelle, I love those ears. :)
Gorges, I agree! Such a happy time of year.

Oh, poor Nova! I feel for her!
They are just so doggone cute when they are babies!
What a bunch of cutie-patooties! Nova has GOT to have at least two in there!
Rosalea, goat prints on the car, lol. I usually have cat prints on mine. :)
Daisy, I know Nova feels ready! Really, could be any day now.
Mama Pea, I think it's at least twins too. But you never know. I thought Miracle had three or four, but after her twins the rest was just fat!

It tis the season for kid cuteness.
"Freezer Camp"...is it wrong I laughed at this?
Baby goats may easily be the cutest baby animal I have come across.
Goatldi, :)
Cederq, sounds like you've had some experiences!
Jo, very much so. :)
TB, I can't decide between baby goats or kittens. :)
Super Nova more like hahahaha!
those babies are soooo cute
Oh my goodness! Nova is huge! I love your baby goats. You do have the cutest goats around!
Leigh, you already know where I would be! Lol ! Precious!!!
Serenity, thanks! "Super Nova" is pretty cute. :)
Henny, all baby goats are the cutest! Nova is pretty big, but I've had a few (carrying quads) that were even bigger! I'm guessing she'll have twins.
Wyomingheart, of course!
