This is Sky. She's a mountain goat wannabe. (Background goats: Lini & Lady on left, Conner on right) |
Behind the goat barn is a section of wall from the old goat shed. |
Sky loves climbing on it. |
And jumping off it (while Jack observes). |
Her sister Windy like it too. |

Just love it! Not all of mine are climbers but when they are they are top notch. Apparently Sky has inherited the climbing gene. She has a very Moutain Goat look about her too. Not to mention she is stinking cute too!
How lovely that Sky wants to climb, we are once again putting together things for the kids to climb on they are just getting to the age when they start playing king of the castle
Ohmigosh! They are all just too precious <3 I think maybe I might be able to have a couple of goats in the near future, sigh!
It's funny how some goats are prone to being climbers (or jumpers) and others aren't. Can't say I care much for the jumping gene. Climbers are bad enough, LOL
You know, we have a stump that the kids (and even the adults on occasion) play on and "battle" over, but they've never tried that with this. Not sure why, but Sky isn't especially dominant in the kid pecking order so she has full reign over that bit of wall!
Oh Yarrow, nothing is more entertaining than goat kids! (Well, ducks are pretty amusing too). I hope those goats in your future works out soon!
So is the need to climb a gene from mountain goats? Are these goats descendants of mountain goats? I find it odd that something newly born just feels the need to climb up high.
Ed, that's a good question, but I know nothing about the genetic influences of mountain goats on modern breeds. It would make an interesting study. I always thought my Nubians were rather klutzy when it came to climbing (even over logs). The Kinders seem a little more sure footed, but it seems it has a lot to do with the individuals.
Goats seem like the most playful creatures, & they are sure fun to watch!
That must be fun to watch. Afraid I would not get any work done! Nancy
Some of my best memories from our goat days are when my four kids (humans) would get on their hands and knees out in the goat pen and let the kids(goats) run and jump on them. Lots of fun.
Your goats have been spliced with spiderman genes. ;)
Leigh,
Sky is just to adorable!!! Be careful Sky may surprise you one day and be up on the roof :-)
To bad we can bottle up the energy of goats and sell it.
Hi Leigh! :) they are so cute, and wow, they are growing up really fast!
very cute, glad she's yours and not mine. *big smile* She reminds me of my Peaches (a bore/Nubian goat we had before we moved) who loved to jump on things and reak havoc! *smile* Have fun with your little mountain goat. *smile* Sincerely, Mommy of two growing blessings & so much more!
It's always a highlight of the day. :)
You know what? I try to make sure to spend a little time every day enjoying what we've been working so hard at. Otherwise what would be the point!
Kids and kids! Great combination. :)
Or maybe Spiderman has some goat genes, LOL
Oh gosh, I used to have a goat like that, and she was a Kinder too. She used to jump on top of the pig palace and be so pleased with herself!
Yes, they do grow fast! They're long out of the bouncy stage and now into the tearing around stage. :)
They can get into some mischief! LOL
