Time flies. We've been busy with
hurricane cleanup and finishing up in the garden. The weather's been beautiful, except no rain so far this month, So I've been watering our fall garden seedlings. Dan's made a little more
progress on the masonry heater.
As you can see, we're getting into the home stretch. Probably none too soon. :)

The temperature here right now is 2 degrees below freezing so I suspect our garden is officially done. When it warms up again starting tomorrow, I plan to spend some time out there cleaning it up to get it ready for winter.
It appears that we have entered the early phase of Winter here with a dramatic flourish: Mid 70's and sunny on Sunday, cooler and rainy (more or less) between now and as far out as the 10 day calendar goes). It seems the season is upon us.
Love this! So fun watching it all happen!
Ed, it's good you've been on top of it. We're anticipating first frost tonight. I spent the day harvesting everything that needed to be gotten in. We've got the wood cookstove going in the kitchen, so we're comfy. It's hard to believe winter is right around the corner.
TB, being in a new place, you've got some observing to do. Hopefully, it will be a pleasant winter!
Barbara, thank you!
Nice job on the stove. We’ve been firing up our main air tight stove for a couple of weeks now. We’ve had some frosty nights and some unseasonably cool days, and a few unexpectedly warm days just to confuse things. Only thing left in the garden are 3 leeks and some parsley.
Anonymous, sounds like you're ready! I love that first autumn fire in the woodstove. We've been having morning fires in our wood cookstove in the kitchen, but now we're in another mild warming trend. Wishing you a cozy winter by your stove!
