I'm slow on my progress reports for this project. Part of that has to do with selecting and optimizing photos. Also, as little things are needed, there is often a delay to get them, because so little is available locally anymore. Expedient shipping is difficult to find as well. Plus, we had several dark stormy days without electricity for lighting and power tools. Then there were several days of
hurricane clean-up. But finally, I've got progress to show you.

The sheet metal sleeve fits over the door frame and fills in
the gap between the frame and the core. Not sure what it's called.
Dan made it based on videos of German masonry stove builders. |

Thanks TB. Progress is slow but steady. There seems to be a lot of think time involved in approaching each step.
With the temps here dropping (thankfully!) I imagine getting this functional is a priority! Im looking at my wood stove and it needs an overhaul. Its about 44yo and had water leakage an such... I do have a smaller one I'm hoping to get installed soon and see if someone locally can give the big 'Rebel' stove an overhaul...
Annie, I hope you get it all worked out before cold weather moves in. You're right that ours is a priority. One step at a time. :)
