Our summer is too hot for greenhouse growing, so except for a tomatoeless volunteer test cherry tomato plant, not much has been happening there. One of Dan's rainwater tanks started to leak, but we delayed repair until later. I will mention that between the solar vent fan and the shade cloth, we're avoided the greenhouse effect, but it's still too hot in there for plants to be happy. But we never planned to use it in summer, so except for the tank leak, it's all good.
What's left to do is build some benches and the floor. For that, I think Dan wants to put down stone.First though, we agreed the framing should be painted. Last week, we had some deliciously October-like temps, which was perfect for working in the greenhouse. While Dan worked on his stove project, I got started on the painting.
We're back in a summer warming trend, so it will likely be awhile before I finish. But it's nice to see it starting to look fresh and bright. It's nice to make even a little more progress toward finally getting it done.

Looking very good, Leigh. Greenhouse growing time is coming!
Rosalea, and I'm looking forward to it! I'm thinking October might be a good time to try my first greenhouse plantings.
I look at the greenhouse being too hot in the summer as a blessing. I'm not sure I could or want to keep up with both a garden and a greenhouse at once. The eight or nine months we can use one or the other is long enough.
Ed, that's a good point. We're currently trying to consolidate some of our planting/growing areas, as they are spread out too much. While I'd love to have every inch of our property productive, that's a lot of work!
I honestly don't mind not using the greenhouse in summer. But I'm glad to have it for winter.
Leigh - How great that the plans for managing the heat in Summer have gone so well. I am always so happy when something I think in my head will work actually works.
TB, me too!
Looks great Leigh. Here in the deep south we call this False Fall. Definitely welcome, especially the breezes that come with it. But, we all know that the 90+ temps will be back sooner than later.
Deb, "false fall" is a perfect description! Our 90s are due by the end of the week! I'm just thankful we didn't have 90s all month, like we usually do in August.
Very nice! Looking forward to see it in use this winter. This August was a combo of hot and then not. Our temps have been as low as 52 in the morning and 70 degree top offs late afternoon. However it is going to be mid 90's going into September. And no matter how warm or cold October is the two weeks of The Big Fresno Fair are always triple digits , crazy huh?
I am working to get the winter garden in and will hope for a better outcome than last winter.
Such great progress on that green house. How lovely it will be to extend the growing season some.
Goatldi, sounds like you have some pretty nice temps. Triple digits in October doesn't sound nice!
RT, indeed!
