Random September Photos

Seems like we had a short summer this year: fairly cool through June, only a few days in the 90s, and lots of clouds and rain in August. I think I swapped summer with some of you all! Now, September. I don't remember nightly lows like these in September before. When I go out to do morning chores, I'm having to wear a jacket and sweat pants under my skirt! I wonder what October will bring??? While we wait, I'll close out September with a few photos.

November Sky ? Really? Looks like you are cracking the 12 month milk supply plan. Where did Meowy leave the cape ?

All in all looking good!

Meowy's cape! How could I forget that! All the cape images were on my old computer. I should have put them on a thumb drive somewhere when I transferred stuff, (although, unfortunately, a bunch of photos from 2019 seem to be missing.)

Sky will be my first fall kidding ever. I'd actually love to have milk year-round, mostly for my kefir, but it would also help on freezer space!

You better find it might be cold this winter he may need it to keep warm. What kind of a cat mother are you?

Agreed year-round milk is a blessing and can sometimes be a curse.
You have milk year around but you’ve got to milk year around kind of an oxymoron isn’t it?

I think I need to do a post for October while we’re discussing milk.

Although I don't think summer was all that short, we too didn't really have a hot one. We had very few days in the 90's and none that topped 100. Normally we have a couple weeks of 100+ temps and at least a month with highs above 90's. Global warming is shifting the jet stream further south I guess for us.

Ed, I voted for the Grand Solar Minimum, but if this is all we get for cooler temperatures, I'm not impressed!

Very true about year-round milk! It's a chore that must be done, but it beats having to buy milk to keep my kefir going.

Looking forward to your October post!

Our summer seemed endless, heatwaves then damaging storms and floods then more heat waves. I'm usually sorry when summer ends, not this year.

Leigh said...

Boud, we often have summers like that too, so I can commiserate! I always look forward to autumn to finally get some relief from the heat.

Leigh, we seem to have turned a corner here with cold fronts. Raining as I write this, and rain forecast for the next four days (which seems early to me). More telling, the sweet potato leaves are starting to turn, which is about 1.5 months early.

TB, I'm also wondering if our early cooler temps signal an long or cold winter. Of course, there's no way to know! Then too, what we get in one part of the country may be totally different in another part of the country!

Great pictures. I especially love "The Girls" in the last one. Everything still looks so lush and green. I love that you go out wearing a skirt and jacket (with sweat pants underneath...my favorite attire!)

We got 3.7" of rain between 8 PM and 6 AM. That is a great deal for this time of year.

Our summer seemed awfully short this year also...but that could also just be me not liking the cold. ;) Somepuppy is gonna have a blast when we start getting snow...she enjoyed the pile of hail that came out of our downspout.

Leigh said...

That is a lot of rain. Was your ground able to handle it?

Leigh said...

Mary, thanks! We've had good rainfall most of the summer, which has really helped keep things growing.

I wear skirts all year long. I think they're cooler in summer, and over sweat pants, they're warmer in winter! :)

Renee, oh, the joys of puppyhood! So fun. I'm amazed she liked playing with hail! Silly pooch. :)

Renee Nefe said...

the hail was pretty small...looked like a snowcone. and yes she's a silly girl.

Your asparagus is confused, but good for you :-)

The other thing that was confused was our apple trees. They started flowering again! Not sure why, except that our cool spell must have been cool enough to trigger the spring cycle when it warmed up again.
