Twin doelings for Violet! Born around 8:15 and 8:45 last night. It was a classic kidding with Mama and baby girls all doing well. Here they are this morning:
Firstborn. The flash on the camera picked up her agouti markings, but to the eye she's solid brown. |
except for a white band on her left side, |
and a face like her Mama's. |
Little sister is a fuzzball in comparison. |
Mostly white |
Also an agouti. Agouti is a common coloring in many animals. It's when the hairs of fur are banded with different colors, usually black at the base and another color on the tips. |
That makes our kid count for 2017 to be 3 bucklings and 4 doelings.
The onlookers:
Jessie and her twins were most interested in the newcomers. |
Happily the weather is balmy and beautiful. Perfect for baby goats.
Next time I'll post updated kid photos along with the names I'm trying on for fit.

Good goin', Violet! Nothing cuter than baby goats! Glad to hear all has gone well for you during kidding season this year, Leigh.
Congrats on a healthy, happy kidding and a great ratio!
Oh how cute and healthy they look.
OMG - I just LOVE kids!
Much like children, if they'd only stay babies forever, I'd have more than I could count.
I haven't seen ANYTHING cuter today. Way to go Violet!
Oh my word! They are gorgeous . . . I just want to crawl in the pen and hug them. I'm sure Violet wouldn't go for that . . . she must be so proud of herself :)
It's always a relief when it goes well.
Thanks! And I have several people wanting bucklings this year. :)
Always thankful when they're healthy!
Yup, they tend to lose cuteness factor when they grow up. :)
Well now I know that I definitely need goats in my life...
YEA!! So many doelings! Yea!
Again...I'm glad I noticed the title of your entry in Ed's sidebar. When I saw Violet's name, I figured I'd be treated to some serious cuteness if I came to take a peek. I'm not disappointed! :)
New life, is always such a wonder. To people and to goats. :) Glad all births were mostly straight forward, as mum and bubba's get ready for spring. Adorable overload then!
they are lovely and their fur looks so soft.......
They look like they are covered in velvet! Congrats on the new additions!!!
Bebe Goats! Yay!
I still read your blog every day, just don't comment. But had to comment on all the cute baby goats. Hope you are doing well.
They certainly make my day!
They might not go for it, LOL. These two are pretty shy. All the others let me pet them though.
They are great in so many ways. Probably one of the world's most versatile animals.
The numbers worked out great. I have several people wanting bucklings, and does are always in demand. The hardest part is deciding which ones to keep.
Wish I had a video camera; the entertainment value of all these kids is the best.
It's always a relief to have a good start for them.
It is so cuddly!
Thanks! The others, especially the black ones are all sleek and shiny. These two are amazingly fluffy.
Cecilia! So good to hear from you! Yes, the baby goats are always the best posts of the year. :)
Leigh,
Way to go Violet!!! Those are some gorgeous little girls. Have you come up with names for them?
Yippie it is a doe year! Good job Violet and too cute. Those no none sense kiddings get my vote every time! Congrats 💕
Thanks Sandy! I have some name ideas jotted down on paper, but I always wait to see if the names fit the goat. Sometimes it takes a little time for that. Just settling into names for the first five - more on that next time!
You and me both!
I love coming to your blog, especially in kidding season. It's so inspiring to see the photos and read about your experiences. I hope everyone is healthy and happy! Beautiful animals! Congrats Leigh. :)
AAAdorable! I do miss babies...of all sorts.
The oldest crew is now two weeks old, so there's lots of racing around, and jumping and leaping going on. Makes life a joy!
They do tend to cheer a body up!
Oh, your babies are so darling! Nancy
I know it! And so irresistible. :)
How adorable! Congrats!!!
