The Addition: Pantry, Office, & 2nd Bathroom

The last thing I have to show you is the addition, off of the kitchen.

There are several French doors in the house.I'm putting the whole thing in one post, because there isn't a lot to it, nor does it have the charm of the rest of the house.

This one leads back to the addition. We're not sure when it was added, but it is certainly welcome to us, as I'm sure it was to whomever build it.

Not a well designed bathroom. On the left is a small second bathroom, this one with a shower. It measures 5 by 6 feet, so there isn't much room in there. In fact it's too small to actually photograph with my camera.

The door is 24 inches wide, and can't be opened all the way because it bumps into the shower stall. The shower (behind the blue flowered shower curtain on left) is so small that if you drop the soap you have to get out to pick it up; unless you're good at deep knee bends. ;)

Small but serviceable pantry. On the right is the pantry. All I need to add is shelving. It measures 4 by 6 feet. The string hanging down is serves as pull chain to the light. I'm very happy to have a pantry. It was one of the things on my wish list.

A nice sized extra room.In the back is an 8 by 12 foot room. It takes up the entire width of the addition. It has two windows....

The windows add a lot of light..... one on the right.....

The cat doesn't...... and one on the left. Since I've already claimed the sun room, this will be Dan's office and studio. It will also be a good place for our bookshelves and books.

As you can see, we have our work cut out for us. And that's just the house. The other question is, what to do with the five acres that comes with it.

I'm so happy you have a pantry!! Something I've always wanted too.
Guess you'll have to get some "soap on a rope" for the small shower.
The addition sure is inviting. I'll bet it won't take long for your husband to make it his own.
I see the cats have made themselves at home.

Our old house had one of those tiniest showers in the world. I felt weird at first, but I got used to it!

The addition looks like it will provide some welcome space. I like that you got the sunroom and your husband gets the addition! Having your own space is key I think!

Now that you've photographed the house, does that mean we're going to see pictures of the land!!! (I love taking pictures outside and am very curious about your property!!)

What a useful "addition"!
The more I see of your new home the more I think you have been rewarded for your patience in waiting for the right new home. Well done.

Re. the shower room door, we are just looking into ordering a door on a track that folds into 4 for a spot where we can't fit in an normal door. We've also got some 2 part folding doors in our house, great space savers.

Another configuration: my old cottage had a double front door, the two doors hinged on the two sides of the door frame.

I think it's great to have a 2nd bathroom, albeit a small one! and a pantry.... lucky you! and I am sure you'll find some use for the rest of the 5 acres - given time:))if all else fails you could keep a small flock of sheep (shetlands come to mind?:))
