  1. I love the cat shot. Wouldn't it be great to be able to relax like that? :)

  2. Heh I wish I didn't have to go to work so early then I could get stuff done here before it got hot.

  4. Wonderful post! Ducks have it right but our turkey's have figured out standing in the shallow duck tub with water about 3 inches deep helps! As to our cat.....sleep right in front of the fan!

    1. The best part is that she didn't wake up so I could get the photos. Too often I find great shots but they're too smart for me!

  7. I try to get everything that has to be done outside finished in the early morning, or I do it in the evenings after the sun is behind the mountains.

    1. Same here! Before the sun is up, or after it's down. Anything else is just dismal.

    2. Agreed! It simply gets too hot later in the day.

  8. I couldn't agree more! We all stay cool by sitting near the duck pool. They splash us plenty while enjoying themselves!

  12. Whimsical, fun post! Although we are having what are "hot" days for us, I know it's nothing compared to what you have. The problem with us getting out early (or late) to beat our heat is that the biting bugs are active during the "cooler" times! Early yesterday morn I picked strawberries with long sleeves, long pants and a head net on but still got a bite on a bare wrist which kept me awake some last night!

I love the way you change your blog header collage so frequently, Leigh! Always great homesteading pics.

    1. Ooo, I hate those biting bugs! We have no-see-ums early in the morning which take a lot of fun out of going to the garden then. They don't bite but they cloud around your face and try to fly into your eyes, nose, and mouth.

The blog header has been a lot of fun. Good place to put all those extra photos that don't fit anywhere else. :)

  13. I am beating the heat by staying inside whenever possible. Love the cat picture. That is how I feel sometimes with the Lyme Disease! Nancy

  14. Leigh,

Yum blueberries and pie!!! Cooking outside sure helps with keeping the inside of your house cool.

A dip in water, and a brief nap......great things to do on a hot day. Love the pictures of your animals.
