How To Keep Your Tooties Warm

Riley, the ordinarily non-cooperative, and Sam, the persistent.

Two posts in one day! I can barely get one out every two or three days, but how can I not blog about the weather!? After kicking off November with a snow shower, December spoiled us with its springlike temps; during most afternoons we didn't even need a jacket or sweater outdoors. We did get a lot of rain, however, which meant the garden was too muddy to do anything with. That's why we got so much done on the front porch. Now everything is frozen solid. We only got down to 10° F / -12 ° C last night, so I suppose I shouldn't complain. Sam's got the right idea, don't you think?

  1. We used to have a cat that I could drape around my neck when I went outside in the winter. He was content to ride there and I was content to have a heated scarf!

  2. Smart kitty! It's very cold here as well, 3* this morning on the way to work! Not to worry though, the goats have a heated water bucket and are snug with plenty of hay in their shed. The rabbits and quail are snug in their shed and us humans are snug in our shed, so all is well! Stay warm! :)

  3. If only my cat would be still for me to do this, he prefers to lay on my chest. He knows how to keep his tootsies and any other part warm for sure. He migrates to my spot as soon as I get up. :)

  4. Clever Sam.

That's cold. Willingly you can have our current 35oC if I can have your cold.

    Please...

  5. Great picture! Don't you wonder what Sam is really thinking? Is it:

"Oh gosh, that really warms up my tootsies."

    or . . .

"I am not touching you. My paws are just on the rug which happens to be under you."

  6. Leigh,

It's hard to make multiple posts in a week.....let along in one day!!!!

Great picture of Riley, and Sam. I think I would rather be laying down on the carpet stretching myself. Your cats have the right idea!!

My dog, Beans curled up in our bed last night under the electric blanket. He's so spoiled!

  7. Very smart cat! It's one thing to brave the arctic forces up here, but it's an entirely different kettle of fish with you all. Stay warm!

  9. Sounds like weather stability is going to pot. We had spring temps here from September (it's usually not warming up until November if then here) then in November it got cold again. December was warm and we've had 30's-40's celsius here this last week. Today is 18C again. I would happily warm my tootsies under a cat here today too if I could pin one of them down. :)
    Stay warm Leigh.

  10. I would love a cat foot warmer! Lilly just can't sit still for that.

  11. My cat wants out and wants in really fast once he figures out how cold it really is. He then looks for my lap as soon as he gets in to warm up on. I was sick this morning and he laid beside me, under the blanket!

  12. Looks like you snuck into my house and took that picture. Two of our cats look exactly like your two.

  13. LOL Good one!!! Putting your fingers in the fur of a dog does the same thing! Nancy

  14. Smart cat! My cat is a snuggler and I must confess with the temps in the -20 range the past 2 days I really like having 9 pounds of cat curled up on me!

  15. Similar to what I do in bed. My hubby is the heat source.

  16. You got one smart cat! That is usually me sticking my frozen feet under my dog!! It;s really cold up here in Minnesota as well, we have been practically hibernating with these freezing wind chills!
