It goes from cold to hot all too fast.

Hannah, that's great you're growing bamboo. I've thought about it too, but haven't taken the step. I'd love not only the canes, but the forage for the goats.

Julene, it truly is a spring green. I hear you on mowing though. We're past due! And unfortunately, it's always last on the to-do list. :)

Sandy, thank you! The tree in the background is a dogwood. It's a large old one that is always an eyecatcher. :)Leighhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02435811789823712254noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1694364001063554832.post-58331137844575354382013-04-20T20:16:34.761-04:002013-04-20T20:16:34.761-04:00Leigh,

Can't wait to get outside and play in the dirt :-) and know it will count and things won't die off from the cold.

I love your header and the background picture of the flowering tree. The plant that saves me from all the drab brown in the winter is the running bamboo Phyllostachys nuda, and the new shoots are supposed to be edible, though I haven't had the nerve to dig them. I get a lot of canes from them every year to stake my tomatoes, too. I also jumped into growing timber bamboo but it is much slower so I haven't cut any canes yet. I don't give any of them summer water so it may slow them down a lot.Hannahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04773149110503024929noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1694364001063554832.post-3305080357733251112013-04-20T15:28:31.130-04:002013-04-20T15:28:31.130-04:00Wow!
