In fact,...TB, I think they are well worth planting! In fact, this looks like it will become an annual tradition, at least, so maybe I ought to think about planting more. :)

Nina, I suspect sour cherries aren't very popular, since they are best for pies and jam or jelly. Good point about the bird nets. And another reason to plant more cherry trees, if I have to share them with the birds. :)Leighhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02435811789823712254noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1694364001063554832.post-73406213596752653702022-05-24T11:48:14.408-04:002022-05-24T11:48:14.408-04:00Yum! Birds have already eaten half my currents and they won't be ripe until the beginning of July! Bird netting helps with them, but one year it trapped a bird too and we had to cut it out of the netting. I won't use it now, just to be safe.Ninahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07049476969325691637noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1694364001063554832.post-16423390919935157622022-05-24T09:52:30.085-04:002022-05-24T09:52:30.085-04:00Looks delicious Leigh!

No sister, sorry! :)

Daisy, even Dan really liked it, and he's never been fond of cherry pie.

Mama Pea, I have to say that this is one of my two favorites as well. The other is my great-grandmother's lemon cream pie. I'm partial to pecan pie too, but it's outrageously sweet.

I just shared them with the birds. I've heard those anti-bird nettings aren't terribly successful (as the birds still eat the cherries through the net) so I didn't bother. Even so, for the first time we got enough to make a pie!

Ed, sour. Probably extra sour because I had to pick most of them still somewhat under-ripe to beat the birds (who will eat them quite green).
