SNEAK PEAK: Cover for The Sequel

Not set in stone, but this is the one I'm leaning toward at the moment. I have two more steps before it's ready to publish: first is the index, then designing the full cover: front, back, and spine. Once the index is done (and I do like a good index), I'll know exactly how many pages the book will contain and then I can order my custom cover template.

Seems to be taking forever, but I have to take care not to rush just to be done. Each step needs meticulous attention—in between all my homestead jobs and chores!

  2. TTC, thank you! So many things have changed on our homestead since I published the first book, not only how things look, but how we do things, even how we think. A sequel seemed important.

  3. Oh my stars! Can I just tell you how much I admire your dedication to getting a book published? I have one in the outline stage, and I just can't motivate myself to get it done.

Can't wait to check your new sequel out. Congrats!

  5. Daisy, thanks! I have to say that self-publishing a book from start to finish is a huge job and that it's very easy to lose motivation at many points along the way. You just have to make yourself do it. :)

Sandy, thank you! Of course I hope for success, but especially I hope to encourage people.

  6. Writing a book is amazing, and having something to say and do it creatively twice as much. It looks like quite a book. I have always wanted to write a book. Good luck and success with your sequel.

  9. Are we having an online publishing party? Perhaps on Zoom? I will bring salad and a dish of kibble for Meowy.

  10. Faith, writing a book is a big undertaking but very rewarding. Self-publishing means you're responsible for all the steps and parts, which can either be daunting or challenging. But it gives new voices a chance to be heard. Think about what you want to say and go for it.

    Jo, thanks!

Yvie, thanks! One half a dozen more steps to go. :)

Nancy, yes, this one is self-published. In some ways it was nice to partner with a traditional publishing house because I only had to focus on writing. Everything else was taken care of for me. But I also lost most of the decision making power and control. And the royalties are much less as well. I love the design part and don't mind hard work, so self-publishing it is.

    Goatldi, lol. Make Meowy's a mouseburger. :)

  12. I bless writers who create a good index. It's a long job, I imagine, and detailed, and I'm so happy with books where attention has been paid.

  13. RT, thank you for that! That's exactly what I was hoping. :)

Boud, I'm so glad to hear someone else likes a good index. It seems I rarely can find what I'm looking for in an index. I suspect some folks would say I go overboard; I just do it the way I wish it was done. :)
