Daphne The Hold-Out

I had sincerely hoped to have brand new baby goat photos to show you this morning, but alas, all I have to offer is a picture of one very pregnant goat, who doesn't seem the least bit in a hurry.

She had two visits with Randy back on November 3rd and 4th. That would put her official due date at either April 2nd or 3rd. I was thinking it was April 1st, so it's a good thing I went back and looked at my calendar. Not that it matters because goats are no better than people when it comes to due dates, so we still could have a few more days to go!

  1. All in good time, right? I'm sure that waiting isn't fun. Can't wait to see pics when they do arrive! Maybe Daphne needs to eat some greens with Olive Garden salad dressing! What do you think?!!? ;)

  3. Ugh! But I feel your pain. I've been going in and out of the barn for the past three days, waiting for two of my gals to pop. And they are taking their sweeeeeeeet time. Storm coming in a few hours. Wanna bet they go into labor then?
Good luck and hope the wait isn't that much longer.

  12. Leigh,

She looks like she's ready to have those babies. Has she been up on her feet and active, or just kinda of relaxed laying around?

Hopefully her deliver with be smooth for you and Dan.

  14. Just try to keep from wearing yourself out checking on her 24 hours a day! She'll be in fine shape for the birth, but you'll be worn out!!

  17. I'm hoping for another set of quads too! But this time all girls: one each for Kelsee and me and a couple extra so we have a choice. :)

Thanks to everyone for your good wishes!

Mama Pea, Dan says the same thing. But I can't not check frequently. even if it means getting up several times during the night. Thankfully the times I've missed a kidding, things have gone well. When I was going to be needed, I was there!

Mary Ann, good to hear from you!

  19. The best thing about birthing season? Is when it's over :)

Had seven new babies this morning so far. Maybe they will all get it out of the way today? Only 14 more ewes to pop.

  20. Throw her an extra flake of hay and tell her you're going away for the weekend. Say it like you mean it.
Then don't check, just keep an eye on the goatcam.
Oh wait. I forgot to mention Step One.

  22. Going to try this again. I am very interested in getting goats when we move and I am excited about your new little kid. I feel like I am on kid-watch since I read this yesterday.
