I broke her original press from college last year, then she broke the replacement last month. It has a heating coil of it's own, but can be used on any stove and even a camp fire. The cons for it are that there isn't much in the adjustment of slice size...you just 3 thicknesses to choose from. But for most everything that I need it for these 3 are good.
