Looks nice and toasty! We had a cat growing up who liked to sleep on the stove. He was a huge orange tabby with fried whiskers since they caught on fire from the burners!

I could see all three of our dogs trying to fit beneath that stove!

Happy Christmas!

It took me a second to get past my stove envy to look at the optional accessory underneath it!

Ditto, Farmer Barb. Even his tail looks cozy and warm. Has he demanded that you slide his kibble under there?

Jaclyn, oh no! I'm surprised your tabby didn't learn his lesson! Our black cat Rascal, once jumped up on top of a hot woodstove and burned the bottoms of all his paws pretty badly. He learned his lesson though.

Jacqueline, LOL. It's a cozy place indeed.

Barb, I don't deny I'm fortunate to have that stove! Patient endurance won out in the end though. :)

Susan, LOL. When he's asleep, he's out!

Love it :) When we were kids, my mom had a pet rabbit that lived in the house. He used to love sleeping under the wood stove.

one of the old dogs, the smaller one, used to crawl under our stove in the living-room! the best thing was that her sister was too big to get in there - her very own space and safe from all sides but the front, which could be defended easily:) queen of the stove?:)

Oh no there is a body under there! Looks like about all I ever see of the mice and chipmunks lately....

Best seat in the house! If it weren't for the fact that the cats (all three of them) and now two dogs jockey for position in front of / next to / underneath the wood stove, I'd have my bum there also!

And yes.....totally jealous of your stove :)

Stephanie, I love pet rabbits! Used to have some that I brought into the house occasionally. They liked hanging out behind the woodstove.

MamaTea, can't beat it. :)

Bettina, they all want the best seat in the house!

Theresa, does that mean somebodies taking care of them for you??

Carolyn, I never cease to be thankful for that stove (and that we had the money to get it!).

Riley is one smart kitty!

When I was a kid we used to go to my dad's friend's house each year to watch the super bowl. I wasn't interested in the game at all. Instead I would stretch out on the fire place hearth and take a nice nap. ahhhh!

If I were there I'd ask kitty to mover over...

Clever Riley :)

OMG! That picture says it all!

That's one smart kitty...all snuggled up toasty/cozy-like. I love the black tip on his tail!

How adorable! He has lots of space to spread out in safely. My girlfriend's cat is just a tad to big for the space under her stove. She's had to pile bricks underneath to keep him out as he got 3rd degree burns the last time he tried that trick.

Your cook stove is a beauty! We have one that belonged to my husband's grandparents. We heat with it and cook on it all winter.

And it's a good life indeed!

looking at this again reminded me of a series of historical fiction books that I read where the animals would crowd around the stove for a nice place to sleep.

hi leigh.. i was wondering if you might want to share the blue and white and the christmas dishes you mentioned over on my blog they sound pretty

Martha, and he knows it!

Sherry, I know, the stove is a distraction.:)

Renee, isn't it said that cats always take the best spot in the house? And I have to agree that there is nothing more soothing and comforting than good wood heat.

Stephen, and he would too, as long as you rubbed his belly, LOL

Dani and Sue, :)

Janice, he certainly made himself at home.

Nina, oh no! We had that happen to a cat that jumped up on top of the stove. With this stove though, the floor never gets all that hot. Just comfy warm.

2 Tramps, thanks! Don't you just love the versatility of a wood cookstove?

Bonnets & Boots, thanks!

Donna, ain't that the truth.

Renee, that reminds me of a time when I lived in Arkansas, and all we had was wood heat in a drafty house. There were three cats, who were sworn enemies and fought all the time. Until bedtime during winter. They would all curl up together, but before going to sleep, would give each other a hiss, as if to establish that they still weren't friends, they were just taking mutual benefit of the wood stove and their body heat!

Joyfulhomemaker, I'll be glad too. :)
